Ambassador: Belarus shows interest in Croatian market

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in advancing more actively to the market of Croatia which still remains terra incognita for the country, Belarus' Ambassador to Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina Aleksandr Ponomarev said during a business meeting at the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA has learned.

“I would call Croatia terra incognita from the point of view of economic prospects for us. The same is true about Belarus which is still a poorly studied market for Croatia. The task for the Belarusian Embassy in Hungary to work in conjunction with Croatia in order to attract the attention of Belarusian businessmen, industrial and agricultural enterprises to the market,” said Aleksandr Ponomarev.

The Belarusian embassy aims to build bridges of interaction, connect business and science so that Croatia would be a country not only famous for its tourism opportunities but also a partner to find common ground for business with.

Today, potash fertilizers are the largest position of Belarusian exports to the Croatian market. Belarus is keen to offer Croatia not only its raw materials. “We are interested in selling products with higher added value. For this, we need to study the market in depth, analyze it, do full marketing research and, of course, invest in the certification of our products,” said Aleksandr Ponomarev. At a time when Hungary is one of the EU's largest countries that buys Belarusian agricultural machinery, Belarusian products are far fewer in Croatia, due to the size of the country. “Our producers need to certify their road, utilities, forest machinery and buses for the EU markets,” said the ambassador.

A delegation of Croatia is on a visit to Belarus to study opportunities of bilateral cooperation. For example, Croatia's Sedam IT shows interest in the experience of Belarusian software developers, including the possibility of attracting Belarusian specialists in outsourcing.
