MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – I draw inspiration from my native land, the famous Belarusian poet, Director of Radio Belarus International Naum Galperovich told BelTA.
“The native land inspires me. I search for opportunities to create something in my work, too. Many projects and interactive campaigns make part of my oeuvre, in a sense. Radio Belarus puts our country in the global spotlight. We should speak about Belarus with love. No one can speak about Belarus better than a person who loves his or her motherland,” Naum Galperovich remarked.
He pointed to the special place of Polotsk in his life. “Polotsk appears in every book of mine. This city is a significant place for me. St. Sophia Cathedral, the Convent of Our Savior and St. Euphrosyne not far from my house – my life was influenced by these great places,” the poet remarked.
A book about Polotsk compiled by Naum Galperovich was presented at the 25th Minsk International Book Fair. In his words, the book includes works by those authors who wrote about the city and whose life and legacy were connected with the region. “The book is divided into three parts. The first one features works by Francysk Skaryna, Maksim Bogdanovich, Ales Dudar, Vladimir Korotkevich, and others. The second part contains pieces of work by the people who wrote about Polotsk: Ales Karlyukevich, Rygor Borodulin, Naum Galperovich, Valentin Luksha, and other authors. The third one is dedicated to the works by members of the literary society Naddzvinne,” he said.
The poet also spoke about his new book At the Junction of Dreams which is to come out soon. “This is a book about everyday occasions, childhood memories, and thoughts about human destiny. I communicate my feelings, my view of life in poems. I believe that a poet is a person that can hear the whisper of the skies. We do not write poems. Just the opposite, poems write us,” he summarized.More about Society
