Lukashenko to attend military parade in Red Square in Moscow on Victory Day

MOSCOW, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko will attend a parade to be held in Red Square in Moscow today in honor of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.

The leaders of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Cuba, Laos, and Guinea-Bissau are also expected to attend the parade.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin will make a speech in front of participants and guests of the parade.

Over 9,000 people and over 70 units of military hardware will take part in the Red Square parade. Aviation units will also participate in it.

After the parade the leaders of the countries are expected to lay wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Gardens outside Kremlin walls.

Aleksandr Lukashenko came to Moscow on a working visit the day before. The president took part in a jubilee summit of the Eurasian Economic Union in the Kremlin on 8 May.
