Lukashenko says Belarusians should be grateful for heavy snowfalls

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarusians should thank God for these heavy snowfalls, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on 15 January as he heard out a report on the measures taken to tackle the consequences of Cyclone Daniella, BelTA has learned.

The head of state is confident that “Belarus should be grateful for the snowstorm.” In his words, the last year's draught brought more damage to the country. “The more snow we have today, the faster the environmental balance will be restored. It would be great to have 3-4 more cyclones of the kind,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President believes that “there is no need in lamenting” about big amounts of snow than covered the country. “All we need is some effort to clean up roads and yards. Our people are decent and tidy, if they are asked to help they will do it,” the head of state stressed, adding that it has always been so.
