Lukashenko congratulates Putin on Russia Day

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Russia's President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia on the national holiday, Russia Day, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Citizens of Russia have many reasons to be proud of their history and rich spiritual and cultural heritage. Our fraternal country has triumphantly emerged from many ordeals to become a sovereign and rule-of-law state with great potential in all the fields,” the message of greetings reads.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that the efforts of the Russian leadership to upgrade the country's economy, raise living standards and improve Russia's international standing enjoy widespread public support.

“I am convinced that together we will give a powerful impetus to integration processes and important projects within the framework of mutually beneficial Belarus-Russia cooperation,” the head of state underlined.

Congratulatory messages have also been sent to Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin.
