MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarus will be an example of vocational training development, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with President of WorldSkills International Simon Bartley on 17 May, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus has preserved and improved the system of vocational training. The process of its optimization and modernization is underway. “Of course, it should be developed, streamlined, and modernized every year. Belarus will be an example of vocational training development,” the President said.
The head of state noted that Belarus is the only country in the post-Soviet space and, perhaps, in Western Europe which is paying so much attention to vocational training. “At present former Soviet republics ask us to help them train blue-collar workers because they have destroyed the Soviet system,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Nowadays there are more than 150 vocational training institutions in Belarus. The development of an ultra-modern resource base is in the spotlight because it will help young people get modern professions. Industrial training is in the center of attention too. “We are doing our best to engage students of vocational schools in working practice from the very beginning of their studies. They will evaluate their potential and working skills, learn more about future professions, and make conclusions about the correctness of their career choices,” the head of state said.
Simon Bartley, in turn, said that it is not the first visit to Belarus for him. He praised positive changes in the country and expressed eagerness to use Belarus' best practices to promote blue-collar jobs.
