Document on separating forces in Ukraine's conflict zone to be signed on 14 July

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – The document on separating forces in three areas of the conflict zone in Ukraine's east is supposed to be signed on 14 July, BelTA learned from Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, on 13 July.

Martin Sajdik said: “Meetings of all the four subgroups took place today. Participants of the subgroup on security affairs continued discussing the main matters concerning the principles of separating the forces. The subgroup will continue working this evening and possibly tomorrow. Its head hopes to prepare a document on three areas to be signed by the trilateral contact group. We intend to get the document signed tomorrow in the video conference format. Nevertheless, it should be noted that certain difficulties with regard to the practical preparation of recommendations for separating the forces have arisen in the last few days since the day before specialists had been refused access to the areas where the forces are supposed to be separated from each other.”

Martin Sajdik noted with regret that the state of affairs along the conflict line is not as good as he would like it to be. “The head of the subgroup on security affairs noted that the number of victims among civilians is on the rise. I believe that it is very sad and call upon the sides to prevent such events from taking place in the future,” said the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine.
