Contact group on Ukraine resumes talks in Minsk

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) - The trilateral contact group promoting peace settlement in Ukraine has resumed talks in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The previous talks were held in Minsk on 6 September. Martin Sajdik, the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, stated then that the school armistice in the Donbass area helped reduce the number of ceasefire violations by 67%. The sides also discussed prospects and methods of separating forces and assets near Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zolotoye and the possibility of doing the same in new zones.

The working group on economic affairs discussed possible ways to improve payments for water supply in several districts of Lugansk Oblast. The need to protect a number of vital infrastructure installations in the conflict zone was also mentioned. Discussions about the exchange of prisoners of war also continued.

The subgroup on political affairs discussed ways to ensure the special status of individual districts of Lugansk Oblast and Donetsk Oblast in line with the Minsk agreements.
