Conflict settlement in Ukraine named OSCE key task

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – One of the current key tasks for the OSCE is the conflict settlement in Ukraine, Belarus' permanent representative in the OSCE Valery Voronetsky said at the OSCE Permanent Council meeting in Vienna on 14 January in response to the statement of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian side is convinced that the road to stable and lasting peace lies through the full and good-faith fulfillment of the Minsk Agreements by all the parties. “In this respect we fully support the efforts of the trilateral contact group and the Normandy Four, as well as the activity of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine,” Valery Voronetsky stressed.

Belarus is ready to continue assisting the implementation of the Minsk Agreements and provide all necessary conditions for nearly 130,000 Ukrainians that were forced to leave the country and settle in Belarus, Valery Voronetsky added.
