Belarus, UK's Wales eager to advance trade, economic, investment cooperation

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sergei Aleinik went to Cardiff, Wales, UK on 8-10 September, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The ambassador met with First Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Wales Mark Drakeford, Cardiff Lord Mayor - Councilor Daniel De'Ath, and Deputy Economy and Transport Minister of Wales Lee Waters. The sides discussed the bilateral agenda, including possible avenues for advancing interregional trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in agribusiness, interaction in the area of green technologies and environmentally friendly public transport.

Sergei Aleinik also met with top officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Wales. A broad range of matters concerning trade, economic, and investment cooperation was discussed as well as interaction in the sphere of information technologies.

While in Wales the Belarusian ambassador also visited the Cardiff School of Art & Design of the Cardiff Metropolitan University as well as a number of companies – Concrete Canvas, Laser Wire Solutions, UK Glass Eel – which are interested in developing tight cooperation with Belarusian partners.
