MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and United World Wrestling (UWW) have decided to allow athletes from Belarus and Russia to use their national flags and anthems at junior and youth competitions, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.
Belarusian wrestling teams (U15, U17, U20, and U23), along with weightlifting teams (U13, U15, U17, and U20), will now compete on the world stage without any restrictions on the use of national symbols. This approval covers all age categories except the senior one: experienced athletes will continue to participate under the flag of the respective international federation.
These rulings are a continuation of the decisions made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Executive Board meeting on 9-10 December 2025 and at the Olympic Summit on 11 December.
