Sports ministries of Belarus, Türkiye discuss cooperation prospects

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Belarus' Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk has met with Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye Osman Aşkın Bak on the sidelines of the 7th International Ethnosport Forum in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned from the press service of the Sports and Tourism Ministry of Belarus.

The ministers discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between the sports ministries and sports federations of the two countries.

Osman Aşkın Bak expressed interest in collaboration in winter sports during the preparation for the upcoming Winter Olympics.

Sergei Kovalchuk invited Turkish athletes to take part in the forthcoming summer cups of the strongest athletes of Belarus and Russia. He emphasized that this would be a good opportunity to exchange best practices and strengthen ties between the countries.

Later that day, a working meeting was held with Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev.

The main topic of the talks was the Spartakiad of the Strongest. Sergei Kovalchuk and Mikhail Degtyarev discussed in detail preparations for competitions in summer sports. The ministers expressed confidence that the competitions would be held at the highest level.

A meeting was also held with Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov.

The two ministers discussed the holding of training camps in the two countries.
