MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Ilya Shymanovich of Belarus has become a two- time medalist of the 2024 Russian Short Course Championships in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.
Ilya Shymanovich competed in the 50m breaststroke final on the closing day of the competitions on 26 November. The day before, the Belarusian showed the third best result in the qualifying and semifinal. In the final Ilya Shymanovich touched in second to secure silver. The Belarusian clocked 25.73 seconds, just 0.08 seconds behind Kirill Prigoda of Russia.
Thus, the Belarusian team won two medals at the 2024 Russian Short Course Championships. Earlier Ilya Shymanovich won the 100m breaststroke. Belarusian Ivan Shamshurin finished fourth in the 200m butterfly. Competing in St. Petersburg were also Belarus’ Kanstantsin Kurachkin, Uladzislau Makarevich and Dzmitry Shulga.
