Sabalenka reaches Berlin WTA 500 quarterfinals

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) –Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus made a winning start to her campaign at the VANDA Pharmaceuticals Berlin Tennis Open with a prize fund of €1 million, BelTA has learned.

In the round of 16, the Belarusian faced Ekaterina Alexandrova (No. 19 in the world) and secured a straight-sets victory, 6-4, 6-4.The match lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.In the quarterfinals, Aryna Sabalenka will take on Nikola Bartunkova (No. 62 in the world). The Czech player advanced after defeating Elise Mertens (No. 24) 6-1, 6-4.

Belarusian player, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, failed to qualify for the main draw of the tournament in the German capital.In the opening qualifying round, she lost a three-set match to Magdalena Frech (No. 45) by a score of 7-6, 4-6, 6-7.

The final of the Berlin Tennis Open will be played on 21 June.The final of the Berlin Tennis Open is scheduled for 21 June. The champion will receive €161,300 in prize money and 500 WTA ranking points. In 2025, the title was won by Czech player Marketa Vondrousova.
