MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has reached the final of the 2026 Brisbane International, BelTA has learned.
In the semifinal match, Aryna Sabalenka defeated world number 20 Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4.
Earlier, Aryna Sabalenka beat Spain’s Cristina Bucșa (World No. 50) 6-0, 6-1 and Romania’s Sorana Cirstea (41) 6-3, 6-3, Madison Keys of the USA (7) 6-3, 6-3. Last year in the decisive match of the Brisbane International, Sabalenka defeated Russia’s Polina Kudermetova.
Belarus’ world number 113 Aliaksandra Sasnovich defeated Russia’s Anna Blinkova (61) 7-5, 6-1 in the first round, was stronger than Denmark’s Clara Tauson (14) 6-3, 6-3 in the second round but lost to Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova (17) 4-6, 4-6 in the round of 16. Sasnovich earned her place in the main draw through the qualifiers, defeating Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova (128) 6-2, 6-2 and Uzbekistan’s Maria Timofeeva (138) 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Brisbane tournament will be over on 11 January.
