MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestler Abubakar Khaslakhanau failed to qualify for the Greco-Roman wrestling final at the ongoing 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, BelTA has learned.
In the 97kg weight category the Belarusian returned to the ring less than an hour following his opening bout to face Egypt’s Mohamed Gabr in the quarterfinal. The rival prevailed 2-0 in the first period. In the second period the Belarusian won one point back but allowed a two-point throw, losing 1-4.

Abubakar Khaslakhanau’s medal chances are still alive. If the Egyptian wrestler moves to the final, Abubakar Khaslakhanau will complete in a bronze-medal repechage. Mohamed Gabr’s semifinal bout is scheduled for today’s evening. The Egyptian wrestler will face Mohammadhadi Saravi of Iran.
