MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – The Minsk Arena Velodrome will host the international track cycling competition Best Athletes Cup on 15-19 October, BelTA has learned.
About 150 cyclists from Belarus and Russia will take part in the event. The Belarusian team will feature all top athletes, including two-time world champion Yauheni Karaliok, European Championship and European Games medalist Hanna Tserakh, international competition winners Raman Tsishkou and Artsiom Zaitsau, and junior world championship medalists Adelina Sakun, Yana Daniliuk, and Ilya Slesarenka.
The Russian contingent for the Cup includes Olympic medalist Gulnaz Khatuntseva, multiple world and European champion Daria Shmeleva, and continental forum medalist Mamyr Stash. Over the five competition days, the cyclists will compete for twenty sets of medals across ten disciplines.
On the tournament's first day, 15 October, cyclists will compete in the team pursuit and team sprint events. Preliminary heats start at 12:00, with finals beginning at 17:00. On Thursday, the women will contend for medals in the scratch race and elimination race, while the men will race in the scratch and keirin. On 17 October, the women's finals will be held in the individual sprint and omnium, and the men's finals in the time trial, points race, and elimination race.
On Saturday, the women's decisive races will be in the time trial and points race, and the men will determine the best in the omnium. On the final day of the Cup, cyclists will compete in the madison finals, with the men also concluding the competition in the sprint and the women in the keirin. Entry to the Minsk Arena Velodrome is free of charge.
