MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Francois Pervis, the winner of the first gold medal in the 1000m men’s time trial at the 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, told media he was happy with the organization of the tournament and the Minsk velodrome, BelTA has learnt.
“It is fantastic. The level of organization is very high, the velodrome is very beautiful. There are a lot of people in the stands cheering for riders. It helps reach high results. My wife and the president of our club were here to support me. I have already received numerous texts with congratulations,” the gold medalist said.
When asked by BelTA what he will remember most about Minsk, Francois Pervis said that, of course, his gold medal. "This is the first time I became the world champion. I have waited for this moment 11 years. All this time I worked hard for it. I am shocked, in a good sense,” he said.
Francois Pervis expressed hope that he will add team sprint and keirin medals to his Minsk collection.
