MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have begun competing at the European Rowing Championships for juniors under 19 in Brandenburg, Germany, BelTA has learned.
On the first day, preliminary and semifinal races were held, with Belarusian crews competing in six events. With the second-fastest time, the pair of Dmitry Yankin and Daniil Kudlasevich advanced to the final in the men’s pair. Viktoria Goloskok (women’s single sculls), Maria Shoda and Eva Oparkina (women’s pair), and the men’s four of Yan Nevmerzhitsky, Dmitry Shipnevsky, Ivan Kolosov and Vladislav Gulevich also qualified with the sixth-best times.
Two Belarusian crews did not reach the finals: the women’s four (Ulyana Gromyko, Angelina Uglyanitsa, Kira Konyushenko, Elizaveta Teikina) and the men’s quadruple sculls (Ivan Tsydzik, Yaroslav Petrashkevich, Aleksei Ivashkovets, Daniil Talyko).
Medal races at the European U19 Rowing Championships will take place on the Brandenburg course on 24 May.
