MINSK, 8 March (BelTA) – Alena Tsitavets won the second gold for the Belarusian team during the first stage of the FIG Apparatus World Cup 2025 in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian was triumphant during an uneven parallel bars event. On Thursday Alena went through qualification among 17 participants. During the finals today she demonstrated the best result: 13,400 points. Slovenia’s Lucija Hribar came second with 13,233 points. She was followed by Japan’s Ayu Tokutsugi with 13,200 points. Last season Alena Tsitavets won awards twice during stages of the world cup (silver in Cottbus and bronze in Doha).
Women distributed the first set of awards on Saturday by doing the vault event. The 49-year-old gymnast Oksana Chusovitina from Uzbekistan was victorious. Belarus’ Yahor Sharamkou won a gold medal during a floor exercise earlier today. Tomorrow the Belarusian will participate in a vault event. On Sunday Belarus’ Kira Maharevich will participate in a floor event during the finals.
