MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarusian boxer Aliaksei Alfiorau has punched ticket to the final of the 2025 IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian athlete advanced to the final in the 86kg weight category. He earned his place there with a first-round knockout victory over Armenia’s Rafayel Hovhannisyan in the semifinal. Aliaksei Alfiorau’s path to the final also included wins against Tajikistan’s Parviz Karimov and Peter Pita of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His opponent for the gold will be Russia’s Sharabutdin Ataev, the very boxer who defeated Alfiorau in the final of 2024 European Amateur Boxing Championships.

This is the second time in his career that Aliaksei Alfiorau has made it to the final of the world championships. In 2021, the Belarusian claimed silver at the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships. The decisive bouts of the season’s main event in Dubai will take place on 13 December.
