MINSK, 6 January (BelTA) – Belarus got off to a good start at the Men's EHF EURO 2022 Qualifiers, BelTA has learned.
Yuri Shevtsov's men took a solid win, 33-25, over Norway in Group 6. Belarus held on to their commanding half-time lead to beat Norway with an eight-goal margin. Vladislav Kulesh led his team with seven goals. The return leg is due in Bekkestua, Norway on 8 January. Earlier, Norway defeated Italy 39-24 in the opener in Pescara. The group also features Latvia.
After the games with Norway Belarus will head for Egypt to take part in the World Men's Handball Championship slated for 14-31 January. In preliminary Group H Belarus will face Russia (14 January), South Korea (16 January), and Slovenia (18 January). The three best teams from each of eight groups will advance into the playoffs.
