MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk have concluded their away series in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season on a losing note, BelTA has learned.
The Minsk Bisons faced HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl away on 21 January, in what was captain Andrei Stas’ 500th match for the club. The scoreboard remained untouched through two periods, as the Minsk side squandered two power plays in the middle frame. HC Dinamo Minsk finally opened the scoring at the start of the third period thanks to Nikita Pyshkailo, only for the home side to strike back a mere 20 seconds later. With the game looking certain to go to overtime, HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl managed to grab a last-gasp winner in the final minute, sealing a 2-1 victory.
As a result, Dmitri Kvartalnov’s squad earned four points from a possible eight in this away series. Previously, the Minsk Bisons defeated HC Dynamo Moscow and HC SKA Saint Petersburg but lost to HC Severstal Cherepovets. HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl has now taken the lead in the Western Conference standings, while the Minsk side sit in third place, two points behind. HC Dinamo Minsk will next play two home games: against HC Shanghai Dragons on 24 January and against HC Salavat Yulaev Ufa on 26 January.
