MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian national futsal team will play its final group stage match at the 2026 UEFA Futsal Championship, BelTA has learned.
On 29 January, the Belarusian side will face Slovenia in Ljubljana in the third round of Group C. Aleksandr Chernik’s team began their campaign with a loss to Belgium 0-4, followed by a defeat to the seven-time European champions Spain 0-2. Meanwhile, Slovenia lost to Spain 1-4 but then secured a victory over Belgium 5-4. The other Group C match on 29 January will see Spain compete against Belgium. The group standings after two matchdays are as follows: Spain - 6 points, Slovenia - 3, Belgium - 3, Belarus - 0.
In Group D, the reigning European champions Portugal, who have already secured a quarterfinal berth, will play against Poland, while Hungary and Italy will contend for the second spot. The group standings are: Portugal - 6, Italy - 3, Hungary - 3, Poland - 0.
Two quarterfinal pairings are already known. The tournament debutants Armenia will face Croatia, and France will play against Ukraine.
The quarterfinal matches will be held on 31 January and 1 February, the semifinals are scheduled for 4 February, and the bronze medal match as well as the championship final will take place on 7 February in the Slovenian capital.
Four years ago in the Netherlands, the Portuguese team clinched its second European gold, defeating Russia 4-2 in the decisive match. In the bronze medal match, Spain beat Ukraine 4-1. The Spanish national team has been European champion seven times, Italy and Portugal have each won two titles, and Russia has one title.
