
MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) - The 50th edition of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships is kicking off today in Milan, Italy, featuring athletes from 70 countries, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian national team is represented by 23 athletes, who will be competing under a neutral status. In preparation for the season's main event, the Belarusian athletes participated in the Best Athletes Cup regatta, the Belarusian Canoe Sprint Championships, and the Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal. At the event in Portugal, Belarus won ten medals across various age categories.
Qualifying heats will be held today and tomorrow, with the first medal events scheduled for 22 August. The 2025 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milan will feature 24 medal events - 12 in kayak and 12 in canoe events for both men and women. The World Championships will conclude on 24 August.
