MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmer Ilya Shymanovich claimed gold at the second stage of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2025 in the USA, BelTA has learned.
Competing in the 100m Breaststroke on the opening day in Westmont, national team leader Ilya Shymanovich secured fifth place in the heats among 42 swimmers. He saved his best for the final, however, clinching victory with a time of 56.41 seconds. The win was a narrow one, with the Dutch Caspar Corbeau taking silver just 0.02 seconds behind, while Japan’s Shin Ohashi rounded out the top three.
Also representing Belarus at the U.S. tournament is Anastasiya Shkurdai, who on the first day finished 12th in the Women 100m Medley and 16th in the 50m Backstroke. The second stage of the World Cup will conclude on 20 October. Shymanovich’s gold medal performance follows his one silver and one bronze medal haul at the previous week’s first stage in Carmel, USA.
