MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Belarus has reached their maiden 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup final, beating Senegal 5-2 in the first semifinal, BelTA has learned.
Goalkeeper Mikhail Avgustov fired Belarus ahead, only for Senegal to equalize just before the first hooter. Belarus netted thrice without reply in the second period, with Ihar Bryshtsel getting two of them and Aleh Hapon sending home the other. Mamour Diagne pulled one back, but Vadzim Bokach put the result beyond doubt.
In the quarterfinal Belarus edged Iran 4-3. In the first round Nicolas Alvarado’s men topped Group A defeating Seychelles 6-3, Japan 6-3 and Guatemala 12-3. Last year Belarus lost to Italy in the semifinal.
In the second semifinal Brazil will face Portugal.
The medal games will take place in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles on 11 May.
