Presidential election in Ukraine? Expert on Zelensky’s position and Washington’s role

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Vladimir Zelensky is not interested in holding elections in Ukraine, and the West, represented by the USA, can do nothing about it, Andrei Vajra, editor-in-chief of the Alternativa information and analysis website said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube Channel.
“The desire to hold elections in Ukraine arose in Donald Trump right at the very beginning [of his second presidential term]. Immediately, talk started that Zelensky is illegitimate, and that any document signed by him has no significance. Ukraine needs some kind of ‘big boss’ with whom talks can be held and some documents signed,” said Andrei Vajra.

The expert added, however, that talk about the need for elections in Ukraine remains just talk. Despite media reports about the possibility of holding elections in Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky himself has refuted this. Washington, for its part, did not challenge this and showed no attempts to pressure Vladimir Zelensky with the aim of organizing an electoral process in Ukraine.

“Zelensky is not interested in stopping the conflict or holding elections; he is fine with everything. The Zelensky regime is fine with everything. They are making money,” Andrei Vajra emphasized.
