MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) - The Belarus president’s team won its fourth match in the Republican Hockey League (RHL), BelTA has learned.

On 21 February, the presidential squad defeated the Vitebsk Oblast team with a score of 12-6 (2-0, 4-2, 6-4) at the Olympic Arena in Minsk.









Andrei Bashko and Vitaly Kiryushchenkov were named best players of today's match. The prizes were presented by Irina Leshchenko, an Olympic champion biathlete from PyeongChang 2018.

The hosts seized the initiative from the very start of the match, and Nikolai Lukashenko opened the scoring on the 7th minute. Four minutes later, Nikita Drozd doubled the lead. Shortly after the start of the second period, Aleksandr Lukashenko found the net, and then, following his assist, Andrei Bashko hit the puck in the goal. The guests' goal was also struck by Nikita Drozd and Artyom Karkotsky. Andrei Dumpa and Vitaly Kiryushchenkov added more goals for the Vitebsk team. In the final period of the match, spectators saw ten more goals. Oleg Antonenko, Artyom Karkotsky, Andrei Bashko, Pavel Volchek, Dmitry Yudin, and Nikolai Lukashenko scored for the winning team, and Aleksei Korostik, Igor Kovalenya, Stanislav Sukhomenyuk, and Konstantin Kogaluonok - for the guests.

In the previous matches of the current season, the president's team defeated the Mogilev Oblast team 9-3, Gomel Oblast team 12-2, Grodno Oblast team 10-5, and ended two more matched in draws 5-5 against Brest Oblast team and Minsk Oblast team. The president's team has scored 10 points and advanced to the playoffs from first place.
Last season, the head of state’s squad became the winner of these competitions for the 16th time, defeating the hockey players of Minsk Oblast in the final series. The teams of Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast have one title each.
The organizers of the amateur hockey tournament are the Presidential Sports Club, the Sports Ministry, and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
