Belarus kick off UEFA Euro 2027 qualifiers

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) - The Belarusian U21 national football team will play their opening match of the UEFA European U21 Championship 2027 qualifiers on 4 September, BelTA has learned.

In the first round of Qualifying Group I, Belarus will face Belgium in Gori, Georgia (kickoff at 18:00, live broadcast on Belarus 5 TV channel). The match will be officiated by a Georgian refereeing team led by Aleko Aptsiauri. In the run-up to the youth qualifiers, Vitaly Pavlov’s squad played four friendlies: they defeated Türkiye (3-2), North Macedonia (3-1), and Azerbaijan (3-1), and also drew 1-1 with China in a match to inaugurate the new National Football Stadium in Minsk.

The Belarusian U21 team will play their second qualifier against Austria on 8 September in Gori. The group also includes the youth squads of Denmark and Wales.

The nine winners of the qualifying groups, along with the best-ranked runner-up, will directly qualify to the final stage. The eight remaining national teams that finish second will play off in November 2026 for the four remaining spots. The final stage of the UEFA European U21 Championship will take place in early summer 2027 at football arenas in Serbia and Albania, whose teams are exempt from qualification.
