16-time Paralympic champion Ihar Boki to set Belarus’ action in swimming

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – The competition program of the 17thSummer Paralympic Games has kicked off in Paris with 22 medal events in three sports, BelTA has learned.

The first competition day will feature action in swimming, taekwondo and track cycling. Many-time Paralympic champion Ihar Boki of Belarus will compete in Men’s 100m Butterfly – S13 at Paris La Défense Arena. The event will feature 14 athletes, with eight best advancing to the evening final. Ihar Boki won the event in the previous three Paralympics. The Belarusian also holds a world record in this discipline.

Apart from Ihar Boki, the Belarusian swimming team includes Dzmitry Salei, Maksim Vashkevich, Yahor Shchalkanau, Anastasiya Zudzilava and Yauheni Kavalionak. Yelizaveta Dobrovolskaya will compete in javelin throw and Vladislav Grib in club throw.

The Summer Paralympic Games in the capital of France will be running through 8 September.
