MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - The West provokes the Union State to retaliation measures, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media before a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.
The situation on the western borders of Belarus raises serious concerns, Aleksandr Volfovich said.
“What is being done today on the eastern flank of the Alliance [NATO], of course, cannot but cause concern. Military buildup is in full swing: the number of exercises has increased many times over, troops have increased, and military infrastructure is being improved,” the state secretary said. “That means that not Belarus and Russia provoke the West, but the West, by its actions, provokes Belarus and Russia, as well as the Union State as a whole,” he said.
“In numbers: there are 210,000 troops of Poland and 65,000-70,000 troops of Belarus. Who can threaten whom? We do not focus on militarization. We focus on social and economic development,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
