MOSCOW, 5 February (BelTA) – We are planning to introduce a Union State award recognizing the contributions to preserving historical memory at the second Union State forum titled as Great Heritage, Common Future in June, Elena Malysheva, head of the Branch for the Preservation and Protection of Historical Memory under the Scientific Advisory Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, director of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.
According to Elena Malysheva, the establishment of the Union State award for contributions to preserving historical memory is currently under active development. "We will discuss potential award categories and also the expert and organizational committees. There is every likelihood that it can be presented in June at the second Union State forum in Brest. We would very much like this to happen, given the importance of preserving historical memory for our states,” Elena Malysheva said.
In her opinion, such an award is very much needed as preserving the historical memory is very important for Belarus and Russia, as reflected in many strategic documents of both states.
On 5 February, the first meeting of the Branch for the Preservation and Protection of Historical Memory under the Scientific Advisory Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia was held via video link in Minsk and Moscow. Representing Belarus were Aleksandr Kovalenya, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), Academician of the NASB, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor; Denis Duk, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor; Aleksandr Kokhanovsky, Dean of the Faculty of History at Belarusian State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor; and Gennady Krasko, Deputy Head of the Academy of National Security of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor.
