MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky does not want peace because he will stop earning billions thanks to the war then. The Ukrainian reporter Diana Panchenko offered the opinion in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
“I really want to hope that our children will live in peace,” said Diana Panchenko, adding that people will have to fight for this peace and it will not be easy.
She emphasized that for peace to come, the parties involved must want it, not just state it. “And what do we really have? Zelensky, who does not want peace. And it is completely understandable because then he will stop earning billions from the war, lose power, and what happens next for him is also a question,” said the Ukrainian journalist.
“And then there is Russia’s position, which is currently demonstrating rather big accomplishments at the front line. It is also questionable whether Russia should stop now, given that it has been deceived so many times by previous agreements,” she added.
Diana Panchenko shared that this week the European Union has imposed personal sanctions against her. “Of course, I am not upset because I have no villa on Lake Como nor any other assets or bank accounts in the European Union. Moreover, I never buy apparel of European brands and I drive a Chinese car,” she said.
“But here’s the thing. Imagine Kaja Kallas, Ursula [von der Leyen] and absolutely all their comrades sitting around and thinking about whom they should impose sanctions on, whom they should accuse. Maybe Zelensky, who keeps his own people locked up and steals billions thanks to the war? Or Mindich [a businessman implicated in a corruption scandal in Ukraine], who helped him do it, or [a former head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office Andrei] Yermak, who aided him? No, let’s impose sanctions against a Ukrainian journalist for ‘anti-NATO propaganda.’ I think the wording is an honor for me,” said Diana Panchenko.
