MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – In the arrangements between the presidents of the United States and Russia, there is a player X who is clearly not interested in peace and who effectively controls Vladimir Zelensky, Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Reflecting on the situation in Ukraine and the prospects for peace, Diana Panchenko noted: “There will be no elections in Ukraine. There will be no democracy. There will be those people who will carry out the will of Trump and Putin. People who are really negotiating.”
“Another very important issue is that within these agreements between Trump and Putin, there is currently a player X who is clearly not interested in peace, who essentially controls Zelensky. Unfortunately, there are people and forces that could still unleash a countless number of provocations,” the Ukrainian journalist said, adding that by player X she means the European Union.
She noted that what is happening in the EU is “not even the beginning of the end, but the end of the end.” “Jeffrey Sachs [U.S. economist, professor at Columbia University] put it very aptly, saying that the USA and the EU have gone mad together. Neither the United States nor the European Union has been able to adapt to a multipolar world and essentially drove NATO expansion to the point of war with Russia. Today, the EU and the USA are like conjoined twins after a traumatic separation. One of them seems to have recovered and is ready to move on, while the other is dying,” the Ukrainian journalist said.
“After decades of imposing its liberal agenda on the whole world, the United States of America has done an about-face overnight. Now it’s all conservative, with traditional values. A complete and sudden reversal. The EU has proven to be a rigid, ossified, and unwieldy entity, trapped in the vice of the very forces that sustain it. Now, it is being led to the slaughter,” Diana Panchenko concluded.
