MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Myanmar deeply understands the value of peace, stability and constructive engagement among nations, U Khin Yi, Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw (People’s Assembly), one of the chambers of the parliament of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, said during the plenary session of the 2nd International Forum of the Union State Great Heritage, Shared Future in Brest on 22 June, BelTA has learned.

According to him, the sacrifices, bloodshed and suffering endured during the war united peoples in the pursuit of a common goal. In the postwar era, joint efforts helped shape an international system based on cooperation, mutual respect and collective security.
“In Myanmar, we too have our own historical path, shaped by a long and resolute struggle for independence, sovereignty and national unity. Through our own experience, we deeply understand the value of peace, the value of stability and constructive engagement between states,” said U Khin Yi.

“We are firmly convinced that respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and historical experience is an essential condition for strengthening trust and international cooperation. The defense of state sovereignty does more than protect a country’s historical legacy; it also clears the path toward new and progressive stages of advancement,” noted the speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw.
He stressed that the significance his country places on history provides a solid foundation for deepening mutual trust in contemporary economic ties and for advancing international integration.
