MOSCOW, 29 January (BelTA) – Two exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take place in Belarus in October, BelTA learned from an interview with CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov published on the website of the information and analysis media outlet CSTO Allies.

“We will hold the traditional joint military exercises: Interaction [Vzaimodeistviye], Search [Poisk], Echelon [Eshelon], and Frontier [Rubezh], during which specific aspects of troop training are practiced annually while taking into account the latest combat experience. The command and staff exercise Unbreakable Brotherhood 2026 with the CSTO peacekeeping forces will take place in the territory of the Republic of Belarus in October. We will also coordinate activities in the field of biological threat prevention with the aim of creating a reliable system for ensuring the biological security of the CSTO. In October the special CSTO exercise Barrier 2026 will once again be held in Belarus’ territory, thus continuing the practice of joint implementation of tasks to eliminate biological threats in the interests of the CSTO collective peacekeeping forces,” the secretary general said.

“In the area of countering challenges and threats, we will consistently build up our capacity and experience of work aimed at improving the effectiveness of the fight against terrorism and extremism, countering drug trafficking, combating illegal migration, and crimes in the field of information technology,” he noted. “We will continue to carry out practical activities in the format of special operations under the code names Mercenary [Nayomnik], Channel [Kanal], Illegal [Nelegal], and Proxy [Proksi].”

He also added that the organization will continue working hard on providing information, analysis, and projections, coordinating the efforts of the civilian scientific and expert community, expanding the CSTO’s presence in social media, and strengthening its image.
