Truck clearance system still down on Lithuanian side of Belarus-Lithuania border

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The Lithuanian side is still unable to clear trucks for crossing the border via the border crossings opposite to the Belarusian border crossings Kamenny Log and Benyakoni, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

According to the Lithuanian customs service’s website, the information systems of the customs service were supposed to start functioning at 20:00 on 24 January after a temporary outage.

At the same time not a single vehicle has been received by the Lithuanian side from the Benyakoni border crossing since 15:00 on 24 January. As many as 45 outbound vehicles are currently registered in the digital queuing system.

A number of vehicles coming out of the Kamenny Log border crossing are being cleared in manual mode. As many as 40 trucks have crossed the border in both directions via this border crossing within the last 24 hours. Those were mainly empty trucks. As many as 140 vehicles are waiting for their turn to leave Belarus.

According to truckers, the Lithuanian side intends to fully restore the system’s functionality by 12:00.

According to Belarus’ Customs, the clearance of cars and buses proceeds as normal.
