Simpler customs procedures for transit passengers in Minsk airport

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – The National Airport Minsk has simplified customs procedures for transit passengers, BelTA learned from representatives of the air carrier Belavia.

Belavia in association with the airport management and the customs station Minsk 2 have come up with a technology to allow transfer (transit) passengers to bypass the luggage pickup procedure in Minsk. The technology has been put to practice.

If transported goods do not require a written declaration, the luggage can be registered in the departure point for the entire route until the destination point. If a declaration is required, personnel of the National Airport Minsk will help find the luggage for the passengers to present it for customs control.

The ability to get one's luggage registered till the destination point will improve the appeal of the airport in the eyes of transit passengers and will increase the passenger traffic handled by Belavia. “Transfer passengers already constitute about 30% of our passengers,” the press service quoted Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov as saying.
