MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - The second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress has got underway in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Upon the arrival of Belarusian President and Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko, the event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of Belarus.
The main highlight of the opening day of the current Belarusian People’s Congress session, held on 18-19 December, is the President’s Address to the Belarusian People and Parliament.
The event is broadcast live on all major national television and radio channels, as well as on online platforms, including the VIDEOBEL multimedia portal, YouTube, and the official website of the Belarusian president.
Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2026-2030 will be reviewed on the second day. This is the main document to be approved by the delegates of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress. The program will be presented by Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin.
Several key priorities have been defined in the draft program. The main ones are related to human development: demographic security, development of human capital, and the creation of a favorable and high-quality living environment. Next come the development of competition, technology, and the digitalization of the economy. Other priorities include strong regions, development of the defense sector, enhancement of the country’s defense capabilities, as well as tourism potential.
Among other items on the agenda of the Belarusian People’s Congress is the election of a member to the Presidium of the Belarusian People’s Congress (replacing Konstantin Burak, who was appointed in April 2025 as Belarus Presidential Aide - Inspector for Grodno Oblast). This decision is to be made via secret ballot.
The session of the Belarusian People’s Congress will also consider personnel matters for the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, and also issues related to the Congress’s financing.
