MOSCOW, 26 February (BelTA) – Amid a tense military‑political situation, Belarus and Russia are forced
to devote the most serious attention to ensuring the reliable defense
of the Union State, BelTA learned from Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“In the conditions of a tense military‑political situation, our countries, Russia and Belarus, are forced to pay the most serious attention to security issues and to ensuring the reliable defense of the Union State,” Maria Zakharova said.
She noted that Belarus and Russia maintain close partnership cooperation between their security councils, defense ministries, and the special services of both countries. “Through the foreign policy agencies, approaches are closely coordinated and mutual support is provided on international platforms,” the spokeswoman added.
In addition, a joint analysis of the security situation of the Union State is carried out within the framework of meetings of ministerial delegations headed by the deputy foreign ministers of Belarus and Russia, Igor Sekreta and Aleksandr Grushko. “They have been appointed as the representatives of Belarus and Russia for reviewing the implementation of the treaty on security guarantees within the Union State. I would also remind you that the first such meeting took place in Moscow in September 2025. The second is scheduled to take place in Minsk in mid‑March,” she said.
