Research exercise featuring cutting-edge weapons to take place in Belarus

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Major-General Igor Golub will oversee a research exercise in the 174th exercise area on 26-27 May. The exercise will focus on protecting areas from unmanned aerial vehicles and model aircraft, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Cutting-edge Air Force and Air Defense weapons will be deployed during the exercise in addition to air defense systems of mechanized brigades and bleeding-edge weapons developed by Belarusian defense companies.

The ability of existing and upcoming weapon systems to detect, jam and destroy unmanned aerial vehicles and model aircraft with fire will be tested.

The results will be analyzed and decisions will be made on accepting into service the new weapons, defense and special hardware made by Belarusian defense companies. Decisions will also be made on improving ways and means of fighting unmanned aerial vehicles and model aircraft using existing weapon systems.
