Putin: People of Belarus, Russia are born with a moral core

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, 27 June (BelTA) – People of Belarus and Russia have an innate sense of morality, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video address to the participants of the plenary session of the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

“The ongoing forum will be dedicated to youth empowerment. It will discuss in detail how to identify and nurture talent, how to unlock professional, intellectual and creative potential of young people, how to help them fulfill themselves, prove themselves, and to be useful to the Motherland. And of course, we need to nurture spiritual development and cultivate a strong moral compass in young people; after all, our nations are born with a moral core. Our system of values includes traditional family values, care for parents, love for children, patriotism, service to the Fatherland,” Vladimir Putin said.

The Union State is actively implementing a youth policy roadmap set to run until 2027. “It features a great number of projects and events in such areas as science and education, culture and art, employment and advanced training, volunteerism and volunteering. In addition, the Youth Policy Strategy for the medium term is in the works. It will envisage a uniform policy designed to foster character building, to create new social, educational, economic opportunities for young people and encourage their active involvement in integration projects in the Union State,” the president of the Russian Federation noted.

“I would like to mention that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State also makes a significant contribution to establishing direct friendly contacts between the youth of Russia and Belarus; its Youth Chamber holds regular meetings. Under the patronage of the assembly, Youth for the Union State festivals are held every year with a great number of artistic and educational activities on offer,” Vladimir Putin emphasized. “During the first meeting of the Union State student brigades, which took place in Perm in April, an agreement was reached on the participation of Russian and Belarusian students in large infrastructure and manufacturing projects. Such projects are currently running in a number of regions of the two countries, including Tatarstan and the Far East, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast. This year, a summer school to teach young people information technology and robotics has been launched at the university in Polotsk, Belarus. This joint youth initiative is supported by the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. Conferences for young managers and diplomats were held in Minsk, with many Russian delegates in attendance. In May, a youth trade union forum was held in the city of Rzhev in Tver Oblast, in which our Belarusian friends actively participated.”

Belarus and Russia are actively building inter-university partnerships. “Belarusian students study not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in many other cities: Veliky Novgorod, Smolensk, Belgorod, Tolyatti and Bryansk. In total, about 13,000 citizens of Belarus are currently receiving higher education in our country. The Union State has instituted a special award to recognize young people’s achievements across natural sciences, technology, and humanitarian fields. The participation of students and young scientists in congresses, seminars, and competitions contributes to the advancement of science by establishing new technological partnerships and strengthening ties between the academic communities of the two countries,” the Russian president added.
