
MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) - The key event for the Belarusian People’s Congress will be the President's Address to the Parliament and the Belarusian people, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at the meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives, BelTA learned.
“The Belarusian People's Congress will convene for a regular session in April. All members of the House of Representatives are its delegates. Undoubtedly, the key event will be the deliver by the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, of his annual Address to the Parliament and the Belarusian people, in which the head of state will set the accents in the domestic and foreign policies of the country. The task of the Parliament and all branches of power is to ensure the clear implementation of the course outlined by the leader of the country,” Igor Sergeyenko said.
The government will report on the implementation of the program of socio-economic development of Belarus and outline the strategy for the next five years, the speaker said. “We should approach this event well-prepared, with a vision of the areas we can contribute to,” he emphasized.

“The head of state pays special attention to the economy, the country's investment potential, support for business, and price policy regulation. Today the situation in the economy is stable and manageable. For two years in a row (in 2023 and 2024), it has posted growth above the global average. The gross domestic product for 2024 grew by 4% over the previous year, above the target of 3.8%. Real household income surged by 9.7% (above the target of 3.5%). Last year the inflation was slightly lower than the 6% forecast. Good results were obtained in January of this year, - Igor Sergeyenko added. “In the final year of the five-year plan, we need to make every effort to achieve the parameters we set for ourselves.”
