PM: Meeting hosted by Lukashenko focused on Belarus’ foreign trade tasks

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Participants of the meeting convened by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 17 January discussed cooperation prospects with a number of trading partners and thrashed out plans for 2025, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told reporters following the meeting, BelTA has learned.

“The conversation focused on our tactics in individual areas of foreign economic activity. It is no secret, and the president mentioned it, that there is a group of countries (and it is not small) that are interested, like us, in building and expanding relations across the board: from defense to investment, banking, and so on. This involves trade, investment, as well as joint projects. Many of them are comprehensive and strategic in nature. Therefore, all structures of government and public administration are involved, from security forces to financiers,” the head of government explained.

According to him, the participants of the meeting discussed efforts to build relations with a number of partners in Africa and Asia and specific tasks that both the civilian and security blocs will have to address in the near future to get tangible results.

It was mentioned that Belarus received a significant number of proposals to exchange visits at the presidential and government levels this year. “We discussed this as we were setting our foreign policy priorities,” said Roman Golovchenko.
