Over 3,800 queuing up at Belarusian border after Poland reopens checkpoints 

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - Following the reopening of Poland’s border checkpoints, over 3,800 vehicles are queuing up at the Belarusian border to enter Poland, the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

“Starting at 1:00 a.m. on 25 September, the personnel of the Polish border checkpoints began allowing passenger cars, trucks, and buses into their territory. As of 10:00 a.m., 2,840 passenger cars and 38 buses were waiting to enter Poland at the border checkpoint Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side). Over 950 trucks are queuing up at the border checkpoint Kukuryki (Kozlovichi),” the Belarusian border service reported.
In the last 24 hours, the least number of trucks entered the EU through the Lithuanian checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log). Its personnel cleared only 10% of the normal number of trucks. Some 570 trucks are waiting there to enter the EU. The personnel of the Lithuanian border checkpoint Shalchininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) handled 25% of the normal number of vehicles.

Over the past 24 hours, the personnel of the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina) accepted 37% of trucks, with 650 trucks still waiting to enter the EU.

A total of 340 passenger cars are queuing up at the Lithuanian checkpoints. Their personnel cleared 49% of the normal number of cars.
