MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – The camp of the Belarusian search and rescue unit in Myanmar has been visited by Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing, representatives of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry told BelTA.

The Myanmar prime minister thanked the Belarusian rescue workers for assistance with dealing with consequences of the earthquake. “To save people is the most important thing. You have come here [for that]. There is great friendship between our nations,” he stressed.
Igor Zarembo, chief of the republican special operations rescue unit Zubr, recalled that the unit had been dispatched upon instructions of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. He assured that the Belarusian nation offers condolences in view of the tragedy that had befallen Myanmar. “We are happy to have been able to help you,” he said.

A souvenir European bison as a symbol of Belarus was presented to the prime minister as a token of remembrance.

The Belarusian rescue unit is expected to leave for Naypyidaw, Myanmar’s capital city tomorrow. From that location they will fly towards Belarus.
