
MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Belarus and the UAE have a significant potential for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov told journalists after a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh, BelTA learned.
According to him, the meeting discussed topical issues of Belarusian-Emirati cooperation with a focus on interparliamentary ties. “The United Arab Emirates is a reliable partner of the Republic of Belarus in the Middle East region and in the world politics in general,” Sergei Rachkov said. “The Belarusian president has repeatedly visited the UAE on state, official and working visits. Thanks to the excellent personal relations between the leaders of Belarus and the UAE, interstate relations are also developing dynamically.
"The intergovernmental commission on cooperation reviews cooperation in absolutely all sectors. Of course, trade and economic relations and investment cooperation take center stage. We have a surplus in trade with the UAE. We are very interested in promoting investment cooperation. Everyone is aware of a number of major projects being implemented by this country in the Republic of Belarus. But there is also a significant potential for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries are also contributors. A business council between Belarus and the UAE considers specific issues related to trade and economic cooperation," the MP said.
