Minsk hosts Viva Rovar cycling festival

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Minsk is hosting the Viva Rovar cycling festival, BelTA has learned.

Thousands of bike enthusiasts lined up in front of the Galleria Minsk shopping center to participate in a large-scale bike ride on 31 May. The event saw the cyclists riding from the Sports Palace to Minsk Arena and back. “The Viva Rovar cycling festival consists of three parts. The first one is the children's and youth competition Pershy Rovar [First Bicycle]. The competition saw the participation of more than 800 children aged 2 to 12. The main part of the event is the bike parade. The third part is a large competition and entertainment program,” Aleksei Ivanov, Director of the Minsk Cycling Club, said.

He also named the number of participants in the race. “As of today, more than 4,500 participants have registered for the bike parade. We have registered another 2,000 people from the districts. Anyone can take part in the race, regardless of whether they have registered or not. We predict that more than 10,000 people will take part in the bike ride,” Aleksei Ivanov stressed.

The event hosted a variety of challenges and workshops, children's play zones and a food court.

The bike ride was followed by a concert near the Sports Palace featuring well-known Belarusian and Russian singers: Ruslan Alekhno, Stas Piekha, Denis Klyaver and RAZGAR band.
