MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The Italian embassy in Minsk has organized its first Day of Italian Design in the Belarusian capital. The event took place at the State Institute of Management and Social Technologies of the Belarusian State University on 2 March, BelTA learnt from the press service of the diplomatic mission.
A plenary session entitled Great Italian Design: Professionals' Experience included a short film Delightful from Matteo Garrone that was made especially for the Milan Furniture Salon. Well-known writer, journalist, critic and art director Cristina Morozzi offered a lecture on the evolution of the Italian graphic design.
Students of five Belarusian universities presented their innovative projects on flax application in the Italian and Belarusian design. The projects were assessed by Cristina Morozzi. A roundtable was also held to discuss the theme “Belarusian flax and Italian Embroidery: Comparing the Experience of the Two Countries”.
Italian design has been gradually becoming the main draw of the events organized by the Italian embassy in Minsk. For instance, in 2016 more than 20 Italian companies, architects, couturiers and designers showcased their achievements at seminars, exhibitions, master classes and fashion shows in Belarus.
Day of Italian Design is held in 100 cities around the world under the aegis of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
